GDPR & your data rights
Last updated: May 2026
Summary
If you live in the EU, the UK, or anywhere with similar data-protection rules, you have legal rights over the personal data we hold about you. This page explains those rights in plain language and shows how to exercise them. For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy.
What personal data we hold
- Email address (so we can send download links and receipts).
- Files you upload for translation, and the translated output.
- Payment metadata from Stripe (we never store full card details).
- Basic technical data — IP address, browser, locale — used for analytics and to detect abuse.
- If you have an account: your profile, translation history and preferences.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct anything that’s wrong or out of date.
- Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — ask us to delete your account and associated data.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format so you can move it elsewhere.
- Restrict or object to processing — limit how we use your data, including opting out of analytics and marketing-related tracking.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent (for example, marketing emails or non-essential cookies), you can withdraw it at any time.
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data-protection authority.
How to exercise these rights
Email support@aiebooktranslator.com from the address linked to your account, with one of these subjects:
- “GDPR — Data access request”
- “GDPR — Delete my account”
- “GDPR — Export my data”
- “GDPR — Correct my data”
We respond to all GDPR requests within 30 days. If we need more time for a complex request, we’ll let you know within the first 30 days and explain why.
Data retention
Uploaded source files and translated outputs are automatically deleted 30 days after the translation is delivered. If you delete your account, we remove your profile, history and email from our systems within 30 days, except where we’re legally required to keep records (e.g. invoices for tax purposes).
Cookies and tracking
Non-essential cookies and analytics only run with your consent. You can review or change your choices at any time using the “Manage cookies” link in our footer.
Data we share with processors
To run the service we share data with a small number of trusted processors — notably Stripe (payments), the AI providers that perform the translation, and our email-delivery provider. Each is bound by data-processing terms and may only use your data on our instructions.
